If you’re tired of the inconsistencies on bathroom scales, experts now say that there is one particular day we should all be weighing in to get the most accurate results. and it’s… Wednesday! Researchers from Cornell University say people eat more on weekends so they usually weigh more on Sunday nights… and they weigh less on Fridays. They conclude Wednesday weigh-in’s would provide the most accurate and consistent readings. In addition, previous studies have shown people who weigh-in more frequently lose more weight. And this can help maintain a healthy body weight, which is essential for a long-term healthy life. One way to help with that is to cut calories… which studies now show could even improve the health of non-obese adults. Researchers assigned 200 adults who were not obese to either eat their regular diet or reduce their calorie intake by 25-percent. After two years, people in the calorie restriction group lost more weight, had better quality sleep, felt less stress, and were overall healthier than those in the regular diet group. And changes to our diet are necessary… especially considering that more than half of all calories in the typical American diet come from ultra processed foods. According to researchers, foods like soft drinks, pre-packaged snacks and baked goods, chicken nuggets, and instant noodles made up nearly 60-percent of total calorie intake. Ultra processed foods also contributed to almost 90-percent of added sugar consumption. This is concerning since these added sugars can increase the risk of obesity, diabetes, and heart disease.
